First ICWA - IRES Symposium on 28 November 2018

Under the auspices of the MoU between the Indian Council for World Affairs (ICWA), India and the Royal Institute for Strategic Studies (IRES), Morocco  signed on 25 April 2017, the first ICWA - IRES Symposium on “Morocco – India relations: what levers for the establishment of a strategic partnership?”was organized at IRES, Rabat on November 28, 2018.

A 6-member Indian delegation led by Ambassador G.S.Iyer, former Ambassador of India to Morocco visited Rabat to participate in the event. Other members of the delegation were (i)Prof. Girijesh Pant, former Dean of School of International Studies, JNU (ii) Shri Soumen Bagchi, DDG, ICWA (iii) Dr. Jamal M Moosa, Associate Professor, JNU (iv) Dr. Saurabh Mishra, Research Fellow, ICWA and (v) Dr. Fazzur Rahman Siddiqi, Research Fellow, ICWA. 

From the Moroccan side, the dignitaries were: (i) Mr. Fathallah Oualalou, Former Minister of Economy, Finance and Tourism of Morocco (ii) Mr. Tawfik Mouline, President, IRES (iii) Ambassador Abdelkader El Ansari, Director, MoFA of Morocco (iv) Mr. Jawad Kerdoudi, Honorary Consul General of India for Casablanca and Marrakech etc.

Both sides discussed bilateral relationships and provided key insights on the vast potential of areas of cooperation between the two countries in different spheres.
