Photogrpahs for Passports
Applicants are required to submit 4 (four) recent, passport size, colour photographs (2 inch x 2 inch) along with their applications. One of the photographs should be pasted within the photo box of the application only. The remaining three photos should be kept in an envelope and submitted along with the application form.
The most important requirement for a photograph for passport is that the face must be photographed from a full frontal position and the height of the face must meet the prescribed specifications. The eyes must be open, level and clearly visible within the indicated area. The face should be centered within the frame.
arrow The quality of the photograph appearing on the passport depends on the photograph that is submitted at the time of applying for a passport. The passport seekers are, therefore, requested to submit the photographs as specified, to avoid delay in processing their passport applications.
arrow The photograph should be in colour and of the size of 2 inch x 2 inch (51mm x 51mm).
arrow The photo print should be clear and with a continuous tone quality.
arrow The photo should present the entire head, from top of the hair to bottom of the chin.
arrow The background should be of plain white or off-white color.
arrow Head coverings are not permitted except for religious reasons, but the facial features from the bottom of the chin to top of the forehead as well as both edges of the face must be clearly shown.
arrow The expression on the face should look natural.
arrow Photos for children: It must be ensured that the hands and waist of the child should not appear in the photo. Only the face and the tip of the shoulder should appear in the photos as per specifications given above. Babies under one year do not have to have their eyes open.
arrow Signature/Thumb Impression: Signature/thumb impression will be scanned and printed in the passport. Therefore, it must be kept strictly within the box, without touching the boundaries.
arrow In case of minor applicants, Signature/Thumb impression box should contain the minor's signature or thumb impression as the case may be. Minor's parents should not put their signature or thumb impression in this box.
arrow Use only a blue/black ball point pen for signature.
arrow Signatures/thumb impressions may be submitted in original, but a fax copy of the same cannot be accepted.
arrow Females should use right thumb, and males left thumb impressions on the application forms.
